You will see the same dark mode switch as before. To turn off dark mode, tap your profile picture thumbnail at the top left to go to the app settings. Send the crescent emoji again and it should work this time. If you don’t see the animation when you send the crescent moon emoji, exit the app on your phone and then open it again. Tap on it and it will switch to app settings where you can turn on dark mode. When the animation is over, you’ll see a “Try it in settings” button accompanied by a “Found dark mode” banner at the top. ![]() When you do, you’ll see an animation with the crescent emoji raining down from the top of your screen, except it looks a bit scary and isn’t the same as the emoji you sent. You must send it through the chat thread. Go to the Emoji tab and look for the crescent moon emoji. In the chat thread, tap the smiley face icon inside the message input box. You can message yourself on Facebook Messenger and that will work perfectly for this trick. Open Facebook Messenger and select any chat thread to interact with.
